Veneers, bonding, whitening, and clear aligners, planned around what you actually want to change.
Most people know what they’d change about their smile. What they often don’t know is which treatment does it, or why one option costs a few hundred dollars and another runs into the thousands.
That’s what a consultation is for. We can let you know the best option for you based on your goals, budget, and the permanence of the change you are looking for.
What does cosmetic dentistry treat?
- Overall color usually points to whitening.
- A single chip or small gap is often bonding.
- Changing shape and color together across several teeth is where veneers come in.
- Crowded, crooked, or unevenly spaced teeth are usually Invisalign.
Your own case may fall between two of these, which we sort out at the consultation.
What Cosmetic Dental Treatment Can Do
- Change the size, shape, and proportions of individual teeth
- Close or reduce the appearance of small gaps
- Lighten the color of natural teeth
- Repair minor chips and worn edges
- Straighten crowded, crooked, or unevenly spaced teeth
- Improve visible fillings or crowns that no longer match
- Combine several of these into one plan
Some of these also restore how a tooth works, which occasionally affects what your insurance will cover.
Why Choose Burien Dental for Your Smile
We’re a general dental practice that has looked after Burien and Normandy Park for over 35 years. Healthy teeth come first here, and cosmetic work builds on that rather than standing in for it.
That order shapes how we talk to you about it. Patients often arrive braced for an upsell. Instead, we’ll examine your teeth, use our intraoral cameras to show you what we’re seeing, and talk through the options that actually fit. If a chip can be fixed in a single visit, we’ll say so rather than quoting a full set of veneers. If you’re anxious about treatment, sedation is available, and we’ll factor it into the plan.
Our Cosmetic Dental Services
Porcelain Veneers
Thin shells of dental porcelain, custom-made and bonded to the front of your teeth. They change the color, shape, size, and spacing of your teeth. Preparing a tooth removes a thin layer of enamel, which makes this a permanent change. Most cases take two to three visits.
Dental Bonding
Tooth-colored composite resin is shaped and polished directly onto the tooth, usually in a single appointment. It requires little to no enamel removal, making it more conservative than veneers, though it may stain or wear sooner.
Teeth Whitening
Professional strength whitening, either in the office or with custom take-home trays. It works only on natural enamel, so crowns, fillings, bonding, and veneers keep their existing color.
Invisalign
Clear removable aligners that gradually move crowded, crooked, or unevenly spaced teeth. Treatment length depends on your bite and how consistently you wear them. We’re a Certified Gold Invisalign Provider.
Smile Makeovers in Burien
A smile makeover isn’t a single treatment. It’s a plan built around what you want to change, and it might involve one procedure or several.
Depending on your case, that could mean whitening, bonding, veneers, Invisalign, or replacing a visible filling or crown that no longer matches.
The order matters more than people expect. Whitening usually comes first, so the shade of any bonding, veneers, or crowns can be matched to your brighter teeth rather than your old ones. If tooth position is part of the plan, Invisalign comes before the cosmetic work.
A makeover doesn’t automatically mean extensive treatment. For plenty of patients, one conservative procedure is enough.
Which Treatment Is Right for You?
| If your main concern is | Start with | Typical commitment |
|---|---|---|
| Teeth look dull or yellow overall | Teeth whitening | One visit, or two weeks of trays |
| One chip, small gap, or darker tooth | Dental bonding | Usually one visit |
| Shape, size, and color across several teeth | Porcelain veneers | Two to three visits, permanent |
| Crowded, crooked, or unevenly spaced teeth | Invisalign | Several months, varies by case |
| A filling or crown that no longer matches | A tooth-colored restoration | Depends on the tooth |
Treat this as a starting point, not a diagnosis. Some plans combine treatments, and the order matters.

Book a Smile ConsultationMaking Cosmetic Dentistry More Accessible
Cosmetic treatment is usually elective, so insurance coverage is limited. Treatment that also repairs a damaged tooth may qualify for partial coverage, though your insurer makes the final decision. We’ll check your benefits either way.
We accept most major dental insurance plans and are a preferred provider with Delta Dental, Regence, Premera, Lifewise, and Guardian. Financing through Sunbit and Cherry spreads the cost across monthly payments. Full details are on our new patient page.

Frequently Asked Questions About Cosmetic Dentistry in Burien, WA
Does insurance cover cosmetic dentistry?
Usually not, since most of it is elective. Treatment that also repairs a damaged tooth may qualify for partial coverage, depending on the procedure and your plan. Your insurer makes the final call.
Which is better, veneers or bonding?
They suit different problems. Bonding is faster, less expensive, and more conservative, since little to no enamel is removed. Veneers hold their color longer and change shape and spacing across several teeth at once, but they cost more, and the enamel removal is permanent.
How long does cosmetic treatment take?
Bonding is usually one visit. Whitening is one in-office visit, or one to two weeks with take-home trays. Veneers take two to three visits over several weeks. Invisalign runs over months, and we'll estimate your case at the consultation.
Do I need to whiten before getting veneers?
Not always. But if you want your natural teeth brighter, it's generally best to whiten before we choose your veneer shade, since whitening won't change porcelain afterward.
Is cosmetic dental work painful?
Most of it is comfortable. Whitening doesn't need an anesthetic. Bonding needs little or none, depending on the tooth. Veneer preparation usually does involve a local anesthetic. We'll tell you what to expect before we start.
Can I get cosmetic treatment if I have cavities or gum disease?
Not straight away. We treat active decay and gum disease first, because cosmetic work depends on healthy teeth and gums. Getting that right also protects the result you're paying for.
